Silay Institute, in proud partnership with its sister school, Nihon Fukushi University Affiliated High School (NFUAHS), earned top honors at the World Youth Meeting (WYM) 2025 held in Tokai, Aichi, Japan, on August 4–5.
Demonstrating the strength of global academic collaboration, the Institute secured Platinum Awards in the Senior High School (SHS) category and Gold Awards in the College category, a remarkable achievement that highlights the institution’s dedication to academic excellence and international engagement.
This year’s WYM centered on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, under the presentation theme: “Make it Clear. Make it Yours.” Filipino and Japanese students worked together to present advocacy-driven research and action plans focused on building a more just and peaceful global society.
Representing the Silay Institute in the SHS category were Dynnniella Maguillano, Kienell Marie Salazar, Kiara Toshka Chavez, and Mr. Shan Godwin Donesa. They collaborated with NFUAHS student-partners Chiharu Morita, Kai Niimi, Miki Ando, Ria Kuwayama, Kaya Soichiro, Masaya Hayakawa, Minami Yamamoto, Wakana Tada, and Hikari Takashi.
In the College category, student-leaders Nikko Adrian Lampiernes and Pauline Pineda showcased their insights and commitment to social change.
The teams were guided by mentors Ms. Nicole Alison Cabigon, Ms. Jecel Jean Tacugue, Ms. Nanette Santillan, Ms. Christine Evan Joy Semillano, and Sir Neri Marasigan. Their efforts were supported by Dr. Victoria S. Mellnick and Dr. Mae Ferraro. From NFUAHS, Mr. Maro Kimizuka, Mr. Yuto Nakagawa, and Ms. Kikue Yamaguchi provided valuable assistance.
Silay Institute’s strong showing at WYM 2025 reaffirms its commitment to cultivating globally minded, socially responsible, and culturally grounded youth leaders ready to make meaningful contributions to the world.
