Silay City, October 14, 2025—Silay Institute conducted an earthquake drill today to strengthen disaster preparedness among students, faculty, and staff. Participants performed the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” procedure and evacuated safely to designated areas, guided by the school’s Emergency Response Teams.
The activity comes at a crucial time following a series of strong earthquakes that recently hit different parts of the Philippines—including a magnitude 7.4 earthquake in Davao Oriental on October 10 and a magnitude 6.9 quake off Cebu last September 30, which caused damage and casualties in affected areas.
Through this initiative, Silay Institute continues to uphold its dedication to safety, discipline, and readiness, ensuring that the entire community is equipped to respond responsibly in times of emergency.
