Today, July 6, Silay Institute held its Medical and Dental Mission 2024 with the theme "Pag-ulikid sa isigkatawo" as part of the institute's year-long centennnial celebration of activities for the month of July.
The inaugural of the mission began as the school director, Dr. Victoria S. Mellnick, welcomed everyone. The presence of Mr. Emmanuel S. Arsenal, SIGAA President, Mrs. Amelia A. Sumpay, SIGAA Board of Director, Hon. Joedith Gallego, Silay City Mayor, and Mrs. Lilian S. Reventar, School President, were also evident in the mission, giving their messages and words of gratitude for everyone who has been part of the activity.
The Medical and Dental Mission 2024, with eye consultation and random blood sugar screening and also with a free haircut, massage, hot oil, hair color and foot spa, was joined by medical and wellness professionals, volunteers, teachers, students, recipients, faculty, and staff. This mission is also in partnership with the Silay Institute General Alumni Association (SIGAA) and was joined by Silay City LGUs, including the LGBTQ Alliance Silay City Chapter, KALBE International, and Bacolod Traders Lions Club, offering their free services to all the recipients coming from the different barangays of Silay.
According to Ms. Jennifer Sulpico-Paloma, Silay Institute nurse, there are about 64 recipients for medical consultation, 40 recipients for dental consultation, 113 recipients for eye consultation, 111 recipients for salon services, 46 recipients for blood sugar screening, and 93 recipients for medicines.
The event concluded successfully with a sense of accomplishment among organizers and volunteers. These initiatives underscore the importance of collaborative efforts between the school, healthcare providers, community organizations, and volunteers in ensuring access to healthcare for all.
